Islam Zoo Animals

Islam Zoo Animals – How Sensitive Can This Case Get?

Islam is one of the major religions in the whole world if you will do a short study about this. Most of the Islamic countries are located in Asia. If you are very much aware of the religion’s teachings and laws in Quran, you will see that it does have a lot in common with the teachings of other religions. However, there is one rule that sets Islam apart from other religion – animal rights. Muslim people cares much about this case that’s why caging animals and using them for profit and entertainment is not so halal. Okay, that’s really something that should be given much acknowledgement and surely, animal rights organizations like PETA will agree. But the big question is, are zoos allowed to be established in an Islamic country? What if, say, you want to put up a zoo that will serve as a research and entertainment center? Would it create such talk on most people? Could Islam Zoo Animals be acceptable in a Muslim society?

The Muslims’ prophet clearly states in his teachings that animals should be well-treated and nurtured with kindness. Well, taking care of an animal is never too difficult to do but caging an animal is what most people are confused about. Is it halal or not? There was once a testimony from a woman that she went to Fire (Hell) because of not feeding her cat and letting it be caged. From then on, the woman took care of her cat for fear that she would soon go to Fire. Another evidence that animal rights is greatly encouraged is through the Islam prophet’s parable. In the story, there was a man who saw a panting dog and with mercy, the man went to the well and fetch water using his shoes. His Allah was greatly pleased with the man and forgave his sins. These are just few of the things that completely oppose the idea of Islam Zoo Animals no to mention that fact that this teaching was made 1300 years ago.

On the other side, there are certain things that should be considered before backing out with plans of putting up a zoo in a Muslim country. This is a modern generation and because of this fact, there were ways improved to compromise with the religion’s rules. Some people say that putting up a zoo in an Islamic country is not that rebelling as long as animals are provided with the proper care they need. One can cage an animal as long as the cage is not too small that the animal can’t move freely. Take a look at the animal havens and safari. You can definitely say that the wild animals “enclosed” in these places don’t really feel that they are caged or not free. There’s enough space for the caged animal to run, jump and do anything.

This is what Islam scholars are trying to point out. There is nothing wrong in keeping an animal in a cage as long as the cage is big enough and would not threat the animal’s happiness. Because of Islamic Zoo Animals issue, certain guidelines are now observed on zoos in Islam countries. The first rule is that animals should be given with the basic necessities for them to live like food, water and shelter. Cages should also be kept clean. The second rule is this; there should not be harm or reciprocating harm done to either the animal or the keeper. The last is, Islamic zoos should be providing haven, not cages to animals. These creatures should be provided with a “home-like” place to stay in.

Islam Zoo Animals case is not a sensitive issue as long as guidelines and rules are followed according to whatever human law or the Quran says.
